Christopher McDougall says we used to work with animals all the time. But not any more. In Running with Sherman, he sets out to re-forge that bond — by teaching a donkey how to race. It’s a story about the lost art of human-animal partnerships.

Born to Run author Christopher McDougall says our history with animals is the story of our survival. We used to work closely with animal companions all the time. But somewhere along the way that connection was broken. In Running with Sherman, McDougall’s latest, he sets out to re-forge something of that bond — by teaching a broken-down donkey how to race. It’s a story about healing, movement, and the lost art of human-animal partnerships.
